By the time Julie Lovell's mother, Bonnie Segers, was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, the disease was already stage IV. She still found time to volunteer to help the foundation's efforts and participate in various events. Here she is shown as she enjoys a night out painting Laura's door with her daughters.

Calera resident Coretta Collins, a nurse practitioner at Hematology and Oncology Associates of Alabama, is the 2016 Legacy of Laura Healthcare Hero. Jessa Pease, staff writer for the Shelby County Reporter, caught up with Ms. Collins and published this article on January 28, 2016.
Ms. Collins will receive her award at the March 12 Taste of Teal Gala at the Cahaba Grand Conference Center.
