Nomination instructions

Nominations are NOW CLOSED for our 2024 Legacy of Laura Honorees for:

  • Caregiver

  • Survivor or Memorial

  • Healthcare Hero

Judges

Nominations will be reviewed by the awards subcommittee, which is made up of 5 members.

Selection process

The awards subcommittee reviews all nominations and votes to select a recipient. The Taste of Teal event committee approves the winner in each category.  Please note: current Laura Crandall Brown Foundation board members may not be nominated and cannot receive a Legacy of Laura award.

Notification

After the event committee meeting, the executive director or event chair notifies the nominator who submitted the winning candidate. A letter from the LCBF Executive Director is sent to the recipient.

Honoree Categories

Caregiver

Honorees in this category should demonstrate or have demonstrated extraordinary compassion and strength in the face of caring for a loved one during their GYN cancer journey. Nominees should also show a commitment in the community to improving the lives of those touched by GYN cancers.


Survivor

Nominations in this category are meant to honor a GYN Cancer survivor or celebrate the memory of someone who has passed away from GYN cancer. Nominees should exhibit or have exhibited a great and selfless love by helping others and a passion for advocacy in the community.


Healthcare Hero

Honorees in this category should work in the healthcare field and have direct contact with patients, but do not have to provide clinical services. Examples of eligible occupations include: doctors, nurses, social workers, patient navigators, etc. Nominees should consistently demonstrate excellence through:

  • Serving as a model practitioner in their field

  • Demonstrating a consistently compassionate and caring demeanor

  • Communicating with empathy

  • Making a significant impact on patients

Honorees in this category are chosen directly by the Legacy of Laura subcommittee.
