Generosity

Posted by Jim Crandall in General  |  Comments (1)

This past Saturday night the St. Patrick Knights of Columbus Council 10567 held the 9th Annual Jerome C Bradley Memorial Dinner Dance at the Bessemer Civic Center. Jerome was very active in the Knights and passed away 9 years ago. This event is the primary fund raiser for the Knights of Council. Each year the Knights choose a charity to share a portion of the events proceeds. This year the Laura Crandall Brown Ovarian Cancer Foundation was chosen as the featured charity. Part of the event involves a drawing for various cash prizes through out the evening. Cecilia and I were there to accept the donation from the Knights along with Jerome's wife Lois. And, Lois herself is a  5 +yr  survivor of ovarian cancer. As the evening came to a close, one of the major prize winners approached me and asked for a pen. He endorsed his winnings check over to the foundation and said he wanted us to have the money. I was speechless. When I worry about how we will reach our goals or meet our expenses, God provides a way. Thanks to all who give of their time, talents and treasures to help us accomplish our mission

Obviously, this gentlemen attended this event for more reasons than dinner and dancing. I am humbled by his generosity. I continue to be amazed by Lois's story. We are so fortunate to have her as a volunteer in our organization. God continues to bless us! May He bless this generous gesture by the dinner dance attendee. Beautiful sign of generosity.
